Monad
Created in 2008, Monad belongs to a sculptural series initiated in the 1970s. The work brings together two adjoining cubic forms, using subtle rotation to introduce movement and tension into an otherwise disciplined geometric composition.
The result is a carefully balanced structure in which simplicity becomes a means of expression. Through its restrained forms and upward movement, Monad reflects Jecza's pursuit of harmony, stability and the essential qualities of sculpture.
Peter Jecza
Peter Jecza (1939–2009) was a significant figure in post-war Romanian sculpture, recognised for an artistic language built around geometric simplicity, organic forms and the exploration of balance.
Throughout a career encompassing more than one thousand works, Jecza investigated ideas of unity, division and transformation, frequently returning to the fundamental structures of the monad, dyad and triad.
