At One United Properties, we take responsibility for protecting and enhancing Bucharest’s architectural heritage. Through the One Gallery project, we are transforming the former Ford Hall in Floreasca into a modern multifunctional space while preserving its historical identity.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the Floreasca area had a vibrant industrial and economic character. “We have to imagine that we were outside Bucharest at that time, on an old estate called Negroponte, which included a hippodrome and a velodrome—unique elements for that era,” explains Arch. Urb. Simona Văleanu, Executive Director at X Architecture & Engineering. In this context, Henry Ford chose to open one of the first automobile assembly lines in Romania, and the hall became a symbol of industrial progress.
Today, through an investment of over €100 million, we are reintegrating this monument into the urban landscape. “This is the largest private investment in a heritage building in Romania,” says Mihai Păduroiu, CEO Office Division at One United Properties. “We have preserved essential original elements, such as the huge skylight in the roof, which provided the natural light necessary for the factory.”
One Gallery: A Balance Between History and Innovation
One Gallery will feature 4,000 sqm of modern office space, a generous venue with over 500 seats for cultural events and theater performances, as well as commercial and cultural spaces, creating a new landmark for Bucharest. Additionally, we have planned over 314 parking spaces, connected through an interlinked underground system to ensure efficient urban mobility.
Through this project, we demonstrate that heritage restoration is not just about conservation but also sustainable development. One Gallery is an example of the harmonious integration of past and future, contributing to the city’s modernization and enhancing its architectural identity.
